Glorify

Glorify is the first of what we hope are many Sovereign Grace “regional” CDs – recordings put together by churches in specific regions within our family of churches.

This CD was put together by our churches in Florida, led by Todd Twining and the crew at Metro Life Church in the Orlando area.  Steve and Vikki Cook (also members of the church) contributed significantly as well.  You can listen to the tracks online, and purchase it as well from the site.  It includes many excellent congregational songs.

Beautiful News – Matt Redman

200702021621
Matt Redman’s new CD, Beautiful News, is a CD worth listening to. Matt has a great track record of writing songs that have served the church so well, particularly on issues or topics that we need more songs on, such as Blessed Be Your Name.
This new CD doesn’t have as many songs that are as congregation-friendly as some past releases, but there a number of good songs that you may find useful, depending on your context.

Over the next few posts, I’ll mention a few of the songs that I think would serve a congregation.

You can listen to a lot of the CD by going to the special site set up for the album. If you get it from itunes, there’s an extra bonus track at the end, although by doing it that way you don’t get the lyric sheet.

Individual songs:
You Never Let Go
Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
Take It to the Streets
All Over the World

Hymns: A Modern Translation – Sean and Aimee Dayton

Sean and Aimee Dayton have produced an album titled Hymns: A Modern Translation. It is an enjoyable, edifying CD. Most of the tracks will be familiar to many listeners, though not all.

The track list:

1. Nothing But The Blood
2. O Worship The King
3. My Jesus I Love Thee
4. The Wonderful Cross
5. All Hail The Power Of Jesus’ Name
6. Fairest Lord Jesus
7. In Christ Alone
8. Crown Him With Many Crowns
9. What A Friend We Have In Jesus
10. Holy, Holy, Holy

Sean and Amy do a great job of presenting these hymns in a modern style. While it won’t produce many new songs for congregational worship leaders, it is a good listen. The CD won the 2006 Inspirational Album of the Year by the Canadian Gospel Music Association. You can listen to clips of the tracks, or download the album for $9.99 at www.ionworship.org.
