In the Cross Alone I Glory is a hymn-like song written by Brian Petak. Here’s some of the lyrics:

Verse 1
In the cross alone I glory
Recognition laying down
Greatest treasures count as worthless
Standing next to Heaven’s crowns

Verse 4
Never will I seek the glory
That was never meant for me
Always heavenward reflecting
All to Jesus to receive

Chorus
In the cross alone I glory
Nothing of my own to give
Only that which Christ has offered
For my soul that I may live
For my soul that I may live

The melody is very congregation-friendly, and is a good song statement of Galatians 6:14 – “But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Because the song doesn’t say what the cross did, I would try to pair it with a song that says more about God’s love for us and our sin. In some senses Petak’s song is like “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” – it doesn’t tell you the meaning of the cross, but lets you express your gratefulness for it and changed life because of it.

The folks at www.ionworship.org are making albums of songs available for free in an effort to get songs out and serve churches. They are all fairly basic demo-like MP3s. Great for worship leaders, but not intended as performance pieces. The site also includes songs by Brian Doerksen and Andy Park.

Monique Tute’s “Where you lead me” is included on the First Album. It is a simple song, based on Psalm 23.

Here is the first verse and chorus:
